Wanaktek Shares Open Chess Lead
O'Rourke Also Undefeated in 3 Rounds of Independent Tournament in Jersey

West Orange, N. J., Feb. 23—Sol Wanatek, 35, of Philadelphia and G. E. O'Rourke Jr. of Washington shared first place after three rounds of the Independent Open chess tournament at the Log Cabin Club today.
Both were successful against other winners and until defeated will continue to be so matched. O'Rourke won from Raymond Weinstein, the junior champion of the Marshall Chess Club of New York; and Charles Henin of Chicago. Wanatek, in the third round, beat Geza Fuster of Toronto.
Eliot Hearst of New York; Matthew Green of Sussex, N. J., Herbert Avram, Arlington, Va., and Norman T. Whitaker of Washington, followed the leaders closely with tallies of 2½-½ each.
