Manhattan Reception
A reception in honor of returning champions was held at the Manhattan Chess Club in New York last week. The guests of honor were Bobby Fischer and Arthur B. Bisguier, victors at Cleveland; Donald Byrne, new western champion, and Samuel Reshevsky, recently conqueror of Bisguier in match play.
After the ceremonies a rapid transit tournament was held, with an unusually powerful entry list. Donald Byrne was the winner with 11-1. Other top scores were William Lombardy and James T. Sherwin, 9½-2½; Walter J. Shipman, 8-4; Bisguier, 7½-4½, and Fischer 7-5.
