Bobby Fischer, 14-year-old Erasmus High School student of Brooklyn, won the U.S. Open Championship at Cleveland, with a score of 10-2. Former champion Arthur Bisguier also scored [illegible: ommitted text] gave Fischer first place. Donald Byrne took third place.

World Junior Championship
William Lombardy representing the United States, won the tournament recently played at Toronto, Canada, with a perfect score of 11 wins and no losses. The other 11 contestants were from other countries.
