Chess Champ, 14, Invited Abroad
London, Sept. 10 (UP) — A 14-year-old American boy, Robert Fischer of Brooklyn, N.Y. has been invited to compete with chess champions from all over the world at the International Chess Congress.
The congress will be at Hastings, England, from Dec. 30 to Jan. 18. Two Russians and a Czech also have been invited.
Fischer won the U.S. open chess championship from a field of 175 players.

This ongoing work is a tribute to the life and accomplishments of Robert “Bobby” Fischer who passionately loved and studied chess history. May his life continue to inspire many other future generations of chess enthusiasts and kibitzers, alike.

Along with lost games now being translated into Algebraic notation and extractions from over two centuries of newspapers, it is but one of the many lost treasures to be found in the pages of old newspapers since our social media presence was first established November 11, 2017.
